Excuse me?

Okay so I know that they’re literally JUST married, but everyone seems to have Harry and Meghan baby fever.

Myself included, although I would like to see them take some time to enjoy married life first.

Anyway, when the couple do decide to have children, apparently they won’t have custody of their offspring.

Pardon moi?

According to News.com.au, the royal family have a pretty peculiar custody arrangement with the Queen.

Royal expert Marlene Koenig revealed to the publication that Elizabeth II has full legal custody over some of the royals.

“The sovereign has legal custody of the minor grandchildren,” she said.

“This goes back to King George I, and the law’s never been changed.”

“He did it because he had a very poor relationship with his son, the future King George II, so they had this law passed that meant the King was the guardian of his grandchildren.”

King George I decided the monarch’s “right of supervision extended to his grandchildren and this right of right belongs to His Majesty, King of the Realm, even during their father’s lifetime.”

So this basically means that The Queen is the legal guardian to Prince George, Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte.

She will also have legal custody of any children Harry and Meghan have.

This means that if the couple were ever to divorce, Meghan would in theory have to fight the Queen herself for custody of the kids.

Yikes.
