9 family friendly egg-hunts around Ireland to bring the kids to this weekend

The Easter long weekend is here, and if your kids are anything like our kids, they will be eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Easter Bunny (and all that chocolate) right about now.

The weather over the Easter break is set to be – at least by Irish standards –OK-ish, so go on; get everyone outside for some family friendly Easter fun.

If you are looking for something to do this weekend that will no doubt put a smile on everyone’s face (yours included, mama) as well as get everyone outside in the lovely, fresh spring sunshine, we have rounded up nine lovely Easter activities that the whole family can join in on:

Dublin

1. Cadbury Easter Egg Trail, Merrion Square

Join the Cadbury Egg Hunt Fun in Merrion Square this Easter in support of Barnados. Every egg-splorer will receive a delicious Cadbury easter egg on completion of the egg hunt, and there will be plenty of other fun and activities for the whole family to be had too. Note: This is a ticket event, so make sure you book here in advance.

When: Good Friday (April 14th) and Saturday (April 15th)

Where: Merrion Square, Dublin City Centre

2. Easter Egg Hunt, Marlay Park

Head to Rathfarnham this Easter Monday for a fun egg hunt the whole family can join in on – all in aid of APA, a charity supporting vulnerable women and children in Ethiopia, Tanzania and Kenya.

When: Easter Monday (April 17th)

Where: Marlay Park, Rathfarnham

Time: 11am – 4pm

3. Mad Hatters Tea Party, Deer Park, Mount Merrion

This Easter Sunday, all is not quite what it seems as a white rabbit, a mad Hatter and a little girl called Alice host a most unusual tea party Mad Hatters Tea Party in Mount Merrion –  complete with lots of kids activities, a tea cup ride, giant chess, croquet, a hat walk, balloons, an Easter egg Hunt and a host of surprises on picnic tables under a tree.

4. Easter Egg Hunt at Ardgillan Castle, Balbriggan

The Easter Bunny is making a welcome return to Ardgillan Castle and will be hiding eggs all around the park for all the boys and girls to find.

Note: This is a ticket-only event, and while there will be limited numbers of tickets for sale on the day, do book in advance to avoid disappointment.

When: Easter Monday (April 17th)

Kildare

5. Easter Celebration and Egg Hunt, Lullymore Heritage and Discovery Park, Rathangan

Join the Easter Bunny for an egg-stra special week at Lullymore Heritage and Discovery Park this Easter. Solve the Easter Bunny’s puzzle, collect your eggs, play on the giant slide and pirate ship – or how about a game of crazy golf too?

When: Saturday (April 15th) – Friday (April 21st)

Wexford

6. Easter Celebrations at Kia Ora Mini Farm, Gorey

Hang out with the Easter Bunny, Fireman Sam and the Minions this Easter weekend at Kia Ora Mini Farm in Gorey, and have the whole family join in at the sack races, potato races and backwards races – plus tons more fun.

7. Easter Egg Trail Fota House, Fota Island, Co Cork

Head to Fota House & Gardens with the family this April for the 11th Annual Easter Trail. Amongst the trees and wildlife, discover clues that will lead you to your very own chocolate egg.

8. Easter at Bunratty Castle and Folk Park

Bunratty Castle and Folk Park is the place to be this Easter Monday with a line-up of fantastic family friendly events scheduled guaranteed to keep the whole family entertained.
There will be egg hunts, magic shows, face painting, balloon modelling, Disney characters, train rides and much more to keep the kids entertained for hours on end.
