Sample Stateside wines at Ely

Thursday, May 28, 7pm

vino
The USA is highly regarded as a quality wine producer, but many of us are only really familiar with the Cabernets, Chardonnays and Zinfandels of Napa. At this tasting, guests will be guided through the classics and also venture out of the famed vineyards of Napa and Sonoma and explore some of the stunning wines from Washington State and Oregon. A delicious accompanying supper dish will be served to match.
Location: ely bar & brasserie, IFSC, Dublin 1, €45 here.

Mix it up Midweek

House Hotel, Galway

If you like to let your hair down between Sunday and Thursday, Galway’s House Hotel can help you on your way, with a lesson in how to make your favourite cocktail from a professional mixologist. Classes include two cocktails of your choice from €15.95pp fpr a group of eight, so invite the gang along too. Pre-booking essential, details here. While you’re there, ask to sample The Duchess (Dingle gin, elderflower liqueur, Mumm Champagne and powdered lemon) created especially for the Duchess of Cornwall Camilla Parker Bowles, who visited this week with Prince Charles.

Staying in?

If you find yourself anywhere near Drogheda, drop in to the Brown Hound Bakery for a bottle of their Glorious Elderflower cordial. You can mix it with sparkling water, splash it in a G&T or pour it over ice cream with poached apples. Tastes like summer.
