This is when you should let children walk to school alone

What age was your child when you let them walk to the shop/school alone?

Deciding when to let your child walk to school, or even the local shops, is no easy decision.

You don’t want to give them too much freedom when they’re young, but you also don’t want to overpower them either.

Luckily, one parenting expert has revealed the best age to let your kids go to school\the shop alone.

According to The Sun, Sue Atkins believes it is safe to let children go to the shop alone when they’re aged between 9 and 11.

However, there are many factors that parents should take into account before making this decision.

The main one being how far the shop is and how long it takes to get there.

Atkins also told parents to be aware of the route their child is taking.

You should also give them a mobile phone to bring with them just in case they need to contact you.

Atkins told The Sun, “Don’t let the judgment of others stop you from trusting your own parenting.”

She also told parents that letting children walk to school when they’re aged 9 to 11 is also acceptable.

However, it is important to note that this is a decision unique to every parent.
