Lately, however, she has focused her considerable drive and conviction to facilitating the members of her staff who are working mothers. Last year five of Rachel's team became mothers within a few months of each other, and the visionary boss reacted by setting up a staff nursery next door to the offices.
Rachel wrote on her website:
"I wanted to create an environment where these new mothers wouldn’t have to make a choice between career and motherhood. I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to grow my company from just a few people to more than 40 while having my kids (and my husband) by my side, and so I knew I had to do everything in my power to give my staff that same luxury."
Rachel has championed incorporating her family life with her career life and often posts snaps to her Instagram account of her kids at fashion shows or sitting in on editorial meeting:
She has stated that it was "the best business decision" she has ever made and urges other companies to consider this model.
"I feel good sending the message to my team that they work for a company that supports and celebrates who they are in their personal lives and that we aren’t afraid to let those truths influence the culture in the office in order to make us more productive and happy on the whole."Explore more on these topics:
