HILARIOUS pictures perfectly capture what parenting looks like at Christmas

Well, this is scarily accurate...

Trine Jensen-Burke

There is a meme doing the rounds on Facebook these days about how being a kid at Christmas time doesn’t hold a candle to actually having kids yourself during the holidays.

And while I am agreeing wholeheartedly that being a mum at Christmas time is truly magical, I am also mum enough to admit that it can also be rather hectic too. You know, the whole trying to get the presents bought and wrapped in between 24 different plays and pantos and shows, and making sure Santa is keeping up to speed with everyone’s constantly changing wishes and organizing the collections for teacher’s presents and the creche assistant that is leaving and googling recipes for ham and turkey that doesn’t taste dry. Phew.

Maybe that why, when the bells finally chimed for Christmas and I sank into the sofa with a glass of mulled wine and a box of Christmas marzipan (I am foreign, selection boxes mean nothing to me), I found myself laughing out loud to some of these brilliantly on-the-point comic about parenthood this time a year:

1. Decorating the tree…

… is always more disaster prone than you think it can be…

2. The Advent Calendar expectations…

… turns into a slippery slope pretty quickly…

3. The Elf on the Shelf saga…

… always starts of fun, then a week in becomes an absolute nightmare. Like; how much crazy s**t can one elf do?!

4. Even Santa feels a little overwhelmed…

… by some of the rather extravagant wishes…

5. Lying to our kids…

… on a daily basis is perfectly acceptable in December.
