Ivanka Trump speaks out about her struggle with postpartum depression

"I felt like I was not living up to my potential as a parent."

First daughter of the United States, Ivanka Trump has spoken out for the first time about her struggle with postpartum depression. Speaking openly to Dr. Mehmet Oz for The Dr. Oz Show, Ivanka discussed her repetitive depression. She said: "It was a very challenging, emotional time for me because I felt like I was not living up to my potential as a parent, or as an entrepreneur and executive." She continued... "I had had such easy pregnancies that in some way, the juxtaposition hit me even harder." Postpartum or post-natal depression affects an estimated one in 10 women in the year they give birth. A common problem, celebs like Adele and Chrissy Teigen have both stepped out discussing their own personal battle with postpartum depression in an effort to bring light to the illness and not make it a topic which is stigmatised. Speaking about life in the White House, Ivanka moved the interview on to speak about ways she deals with the stress of politics.She said the stress "definitely weighs much heavier". "One thing that I continue to do is meditate. It’s been enormously helpful to me" she revealed. The executive is mother to three children, Arabella, six, Joseph, three, and Theodore, one alongside husband Jared Kushner.
