Kathryn Thomas says her first month as a mother has been ‘overwhelming’

Orlaith Condon

“Pondering on whether I’ll ever get a full night’s sleep again.”

Kathryn Thomas became a mother just last month after she welcomed her little girl, Ellie, into the world.

Throughout her pregnancy, the TV host spoke candidly about the highs and lows of carrying a child. Well, that hasn’t changed now that the little one is here.

Taking to Instagram earlier today, Kathryn shared some of the things she’s been struggling with in the month since baby Ellie was born.

“Taken at 5am, pondering on whether I’ll ever get a full night’s sleep again… herself, not so much,” the new-mum joked.

The Operation Transformation host shared a picture of herself in bed with her little one and said:

“The past month has just flown by, as all you mums told me it would. Ellie makes my [heart] burst with happiness every time I look at her little mush.

“She constantly amazes me.”

Kathryn went on to talk about how she’s struggled to get used to her new role and admitted to being overwhelmed by the process.

“Becoming a new mum is pretty overwhelming.

“It’s exciting, terrifying, hilarious, daft, empowering, fulfilling and completely magical.

“And to think that this little human is relying on two people who are really just winging it.”

And in just a few weeks, the first-time mum says she already learned a huge deal.

“With all the conflicting advice on feeding and sleeping routines (yes, I know she shouldn’t be in my bed but she’s way too cute to throw her out!)

“I’ve figured out all you really need to nail this parenting thing is bundles of love… and lots of nappies!”

Sing it, mamma!
