Outdoor Movies

Best way to end the summer.

Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is bringing back its Outdoor Movies event for 2018.

The event will be taking place over the weekend of the 18th and the 19th of August and will feature a high definition screen half the size of a house.

This movie night will be the perfect end to summer 2018 and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that the heat will last just a little bit longer. Just in case though, better to bring along a bunch of blankets to keep you warm and cosy.

The outdoor screening will be put on at the back of Marlay Park House. The County Council has promised to transform the lawn into a proper movie-goers paradise, perfect for active imaginations. It is to be a movie theatre “of dreams, adventure and wonder”.

The movie selection will include some classics, some recent hits, and a few family favourites. So grab the kids, a picnic, and settle yourself in for a magical family night.

If you don’t feel like bringing a picnic, the dlr COCO market will be open until 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, with some market vendors staying open late for those peckish movie-watchers. Movie treats will also be available during the whole event.

It is an alcohol-free event so parents need not worry about any questionable atmosphere.

The movies are set to be shown at 2:30pm, 4pm, and 7pm both days but the films themselves have not yet been chosen.

Keep an eye out for the movie names on the dlr Events Facebook page where they will be announced soon.

Also, did we mention it’s free? Because it is.

Movie night is go.
