Mums share the best things about maternity leave and it’s really heartwarming

Maternity leave can be such an important time.

It's the first few weeks that you get to spend with your baby, and while for some mums it can be an uphill battle, it's also a very special time for both mother and baby. One mum has taken to Mumsnet to ask others what the best thing about their maternity leave was, and the responses are just heartwarming. 1.

"My favourite bits were lazy mornings cuddling in bed and long buggy walks with a beer garden stop - I always thought about how everyone else was at work and what a lovely little luxury it was. Nothing grand."

"Do my supermarket shopping in 24 hour tescos at 3am because baby was teething and neither of us were sleeping anyway, so we had a little "adventure" instead. "Went to 'Bring Your Own Baby' cinema - good grown up films in a proper cinema, special screenings where you're allowed to take under 1 year olds with you."

"Lovely picnics and trips out to nearby gardens with NCT friends are my favourite memories from maternity leave. The group (and our children) are all still very close."
