Prince Louis (and Kate) just made every parent feel better about themselves

Trine Jensen-Burke

Never mind the Queen or even Paddington Bear – the Royal Jubilee just wrapped – and the person who literally kept us all captivated for the entire extravaganza was four-year-old Prince Louis of Cambridge.

The little prince – who turned four in April – managed to completely steal the show at several events over the weekend – and – with his many antics, tantrums and extremely relatable carry-on – the hearts of mums and dads everywhere.

And sure look – with this many events to attend and people to wave at, it is no wonder really that the littlest Cambridge cycled through a lot of *moods* during the jubilee celebrations.

And there to handle it all – in front of millions of people watching worldwide, was Kate – a Duchess, a future queen – but most of all, just a mum, like us.

Because honestly – as a boy mum myself – this one is a hard relate, Kate:

And this one:

And also so very much this one:

The Duchess of Cambridge kept her cool throughout this whole ordeal, and can we just say – four-year-olds – to those of you who have yet to experience one up close – can be full on at the best of times. And probably feels even more so when you know that your every parenting move is being watched live by millions.

Lucky for Louis, he is a real cutie, and also rewarded his mum with a bit of a snuggle after all that:

At one point during the parade, doting grandad Prince Charles stepped in, and hoisted little Louis up on his lap to give his daughter-in-law a moment to relax and enjoy the festivities:

Needless to say, social media users didn’t take long to react to Prince Louis’s many moods during the jubilee celebrations, with many – obviously parents themselves –  praising Kate for not leaving her youngest with a nanny on the day, but rather showing the reality of being mum to a young child.

Prince Louis began the long weekend of celebrations by watching the Trooping the Colour flypast along with his siblings, Prince George, 8, and Princess Charlotte, 7, last Thursday.

The young prince stood watching the planes fly past next to the Queen, who at one point explained what was happening to him – but clearly then decided he found the whole thing both too loud – yet also terribly boring – because, you know, four-year-olds.

We feel you, Kate – been here!

And also here… so much here..

Over the course of the weekend, parents took to Twitter in droves to share their thoughts about the young royal, who some called ‘naughty’ but most just realised is just a normal four-year-old – prince or no prince.

One mum Tweeted:

“Lots of talk about Prince Louis being “naughty”. Er, he’s 4 years old. It’s a well-known fact that 4-year-olds are feral. I should know, I have one and she’s brutal. Amazing, funny, a pure joy. But she is as feral as they come. Poor Kate couldn’t even stick Paw Patrol on the iPad.”

Another one shared the relatable moment when Prince Louis shushed his mum and put his hand over her mouth, an experience most mums know well.

‘The true star of the weekend. I just wish the royals were allowed to do talky stories on Insta so we could hear Kate talk about it!”

A third person wrote:

“I’m glad royal kids have just as much of an attitude as mine do.”

Many praised Kate for her composure in the situation.

“It makes me laugh that she’s trying not to laugh whilst telling him off,” one person wrote.

Another one said:

“Love it! I honestly can’t imagine that either of my kids would have sat through as many official engagements as those kids this weekend without throwing a few tantrums or looking completely bored to tears. I think she handled this better than most & hid her frustration well.”
