This tree planting event in Cork would be the ideal family day out

It’s happening this Sunday.

Twig Refill, a packaging-free shop in Clonakilty is hosting a really cool event in Ballineen this Sunday. The eco-friendly store is attempting to plant over 1,000 native Irish trees in a single day – and they need your help!

On February 3, volunteers will gather at Manch Estate Ballineen for 11am for an exciting and fulfilling day out.

All instructions will be given on the day and equipment provided – although if you do have your own spade you are welcome to bring it along. Volunteers usually work until three or 4 pm, but times are of course flexible.

Hot mugs of tea, coffee and vegan soup will be handed out to helpers to combat the chilly weather but people are advised to bring extra food (especially cake!) as no doubt you’ll work up an appetite.

Gloves, hats, scarves and warm clothes are recommended as well as a spare change of clothes in case it rains on the day.

People of all ages are welcome to the event and the organisers say “children are usually excellent at planting trees and really enjoy getting involved”.

For all the details on the event and directions to the Manch Estate Woodland, check out the Facebook page.
