As dozens of special needs children from China spilled out into the airport arrivals lounge, Audrey Shook scanned the crowds looking for one little face in particular.Â
While many of the children, all abandoned by their birth parents, would be staying for a four-week holiday with their foster families in Texas, the Shook family had already decided that six-year-old Lucy would be part of their family forever and started the adoption process.
This is the incredible moment when Audrey and her husband Brent held their new daughter in her arms for the very first time.
“These are the kids that are unwanted, they are the kids nobody else wants,” said Shannon Phillips, with Great Wall China Adoptions in a USA Today news clip posted by HumanKind.
“They’ve been sitting on lists for their entire life or sitting in an orphanage,”
We’re sure the Brents are already making up for all that lost time.
