We asked some of our favourite high profile mums what they’re doing this Mother’s Day…

Broadcaster, Claire Byrne is mum to Patrick and Jane, and may well be the busiest mum in the country!

What are your plans for this Mother’s Day?

This Mother’s Day I will be spending the day with Patrick and Jane – neither of whom have a clue that it is Mother’s Day! It will be a normal day, like any other, but Sunday’s are very precious to me because I get to have the entire day with the two babies without any interruptions.

What was your first Mother’s Day (as a new mother) like?

Well, last year was my first Mother’s Day and, to be honest, like every other day in the last two years since I had the children, it passed in a bit of a blur. I know I got a lovely card, and chocolates and I will find that card in about ten years time and treasure the memory of my first Mother’s Day.

What is your dream Mother’s Day gift if the constraints of time/reality/physics didn’t apply?!

I would love to be given the time to disappear to a lovely spa for the afternoon and have relaxing treatments. I don’t think I ever appreciated the joys of a spa properly before I had children. Now, even a few hours of downtime and pampering would be fabulous!

What is the best Mother’s Day gift you’ve ever received?

I will let you know once Sunday has passed – I’m very new to all of this.

What would you like to say to your own mother on Mother’s Day?

I would like to apologise to my own mother for not even sending her a card this year. I am normally on the ball when it comes to marking these occasions, but this year, I let the days run away with me, and I missed the window of opportunity. But I will make it up to you – I promise!
