Fancy Fawn launches eco-friendly kids leggings made from fishing nets

Eco-friendly never goes out of style.

Since they first launched last year I've been a big fan of Fancy Fawn. The Irish clothing brand creates ethically made clothing for children in comfortable and stylish deigns, that are machine washable (most important thing as a parent). I try to buy sustainable clothing for my children as much as possible so I was delighted to see an Irish 'slow fashion' brand start up for children's clothing and even happier to see that they have brand new designs. Fancy Fawn have just launched a range of sustainable children’s leggings made from Eco Nylon derived from upcycled fishing nets and other upcycled old waste materials. Eco Nylon or ECONYL as it’s known, is regenerated material which has been upcycled using waste such as old fishing nets, fabric scraps, carpet flooring and industrial plastic from landfills and oceans all over the world. “I try to live my life in an eco-conscious way. I know that might sound like an overused cliché right now with all the greenwashing going on, but I live by the sea and I have three young kids, so I take the environment seriously. I have always loved the idea of producing clothes for kids that weren’t throwaway items having come from a family of eight myself. I wanted to create pieces that could be used for years and could be handed down. I started researching this trend for using old ocean waste and turning it into something positive and useful. I came across ECONYL Regeneration System nylon and I immediately wanted to work with it and so, after much research, the new Fancy Fawn leggings collection was born. I believe circular design is the future, and using ECONYL is our first step on that journey. The beauty of this regenerated nylon is that it has the potential to be recycled infinitely, without ever losing its quality. I wanted to create beautiful clothes that also drive families towards a sustainable future”
