Ever get those nights where you just can’t sleep despite the fact that the kids have been out for hours and you’re absolutely exhausted?
Well, it could have something to do with your magnesium levels.
Nutritional expert and sleep specialist Shawn Stevenson told ELLE UK that many people are deficient in magnesium and that this could be the reason they are staring at the ceiling at all hours.
It seems the mineral helps to regulate blood pressure and blood sugar. It is also important for maintaining the nervous system and when you’re not getting enough of it, your stress levels can peak.
This, in turn, can ruin your chances of getting a good night’s sleep (which we all know, as parents, can be hard to come by as it is).
Foods that are rich in magnesium include avocados, fish, and leafy green vegetables.
