Our beloved Dublin Zoo can always be counted on for a great family day out. The beautiful park is home to so many fascinating animals, there’s no shortage of play areas for our little ones, and there’s always something new to learn at every turn.
In addition to visiting some of our favourite creatures and discovering new wildlife facts, a trip to Dublin Zoo is also a brilliant way to introduce sustainability ideas to your children. SSE Airtricity, Dublin Zoo’s official sustainability partner, joined forces to create the Eco Explorers Trail, and introduce children to Pookie, Dublin Zoo’s sustainability ambassador. We’ve also teamed up with SSE Airtricity to give one HerFamily reader an annual family pass – more on that later!
You can meet Pookie right here, and you can also delve into the Eco Explorers Trail on your next visit to Dublin Zoo. However, if you want to learn more about sustainability at Dublin Zoo, then you won’t want to miss the Eco Explorers Weekend on 24th and 25th August, between 11am and 4pm.
Family fun is guaranteed at the Eco Explorers Weekend, which will be a celebration of sustainability and biodiversity at Dublin Zoo. Children will be given an Eco Explorers Passport that they can get stamped at various points by rangers along the Eco Explorers Trail. Once they’ve completed the trail, they can collect their Pookie colouring book and enter the competition to win an annual pass for Dublin Zoo.
And if all that fun wasn’t enough, children can also meet Pookie at the Farmhouse during the Eco Explorers Weekend. That’s right, Pookie will be on hand and ready to teach our kids about sustainability and biodiversity in a fun and engaging way.
