“Don’t play with me”: Kanye West tells Kim Kardashian not to “gaslight” him about their kids

“Ain’t no security going to get in between me and my children.”

Co-parenting can be a complex and difficult situation for any former couple – and celebrities are no different, according to Kanye West.

The rapper, 44, sat down with Jason Lee for an interview with Hollywood Unlocked, during which he spoke of some grievances he had with his estranged wife Kim Kardashian as they co-parent their four children.

The former couple, who filed for divorce last year, share North, 8, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 2.

In the interview, West told Lee he asked his two female cousins to speak with Kardashian about issues he had as the pair navigate parenting through their divorce.

Speaking about how he called on the women to meet with her after an incident in which her security prevented him from entering her home with North, he said: “My cousins had two directives — I said ‘I want you to go and talk to Kim’ because I don’t want to talk to her and get into an argument.

“There’s two things I said, tell her — security not gonna be in between me and my kids, and also tell her, don’t have my daughter wearing lipstick on TikTok. And don’t have her on TikTok at all if I don’t approve that.

“And I said it after it was done without me knowing. And then it happened again. So I feel like it’s poking the bear or trying to antagonise me or create this crazy narrative.”

West appeared to be referencing the TikTok account North shares with Kardashian, on which she once live-streamed without her mother’s permission and another time uploaded a video lip-syncing to a scene from the Grinch while wearing makeup inspired by the Grinch’s dog.

Lee went on to ask what his expectations were in having his cousins speak with her, to which West replied: “My expectation is to say look, we ain’t gonna be playing these little games, these little ‘throw a stone and hide your hand’ moves.

“Little, you know what you did but then if I scream or react it’s like, ‘look at him! He’s so crazy!’ I wasn’t crazy when I put the creative director at Skims,” he added, in reference to Kardashian previously calling him the “ghost creative director” of her shapewear line.

Explaining that he bought the house across the street from Kardashian so that he could always be close to his kids, he expressed frustration with reports suggesting it was an attempt to keep tabs on his estranged wife.

“It’s nothing in my career with this rap, with this media, none of that, that’s going to keep me from my children. And that’s what I want everybody to know,” he said.

“Don’t play with me, don’t play with my children, and ain’t no security going to get in between me and my children. And you ain’t gonna gaslight me, you ain’t gonna run this narrative on me.”
