Parents know all about the bad habits that kids can pick up such as nose-picking, nail-biting and hair-chewing.

But even though these parents knew that their daughter liked to chew her hair and had told her to stop, they had no idea what it would lead to.

According to reports, the 11-year-old girl had to have a hairball weighing more than a kilo removed from her stomach.

She was taken to hospital in Southern Kazakhstan after complaining about a stomach ache and refusing to eat or drink.

The hairball apparently weighed over 1 kilogram and took up 17cm of her stomach as well as 35cm of her bowel.

The little girl was diagnosed with Rapunzel syndrome, a rare condition that comes from ingesting hair, and the hairball was removed. It is believed that she will be able to eat and drink again.
