Last night’s Call the Midwife highlighted the cracks in Trixie and Matthew’s marriage
Are Trixie and Matthew heading for divorce in ‘Call the Midwife?’ It looks like there’s already trouble in paradise, just months after the couple tied the knot in a dream wedding ceremony.
We all thought Trixie finally had her happy ending, but is Matthew’s nice guy mask starting to slip?
Fans were shocked by his unusual behaviour in last night’s episode and couldn’t believe how he was treating Trixie.
The businessman asked Nurse Trixie if she was “a wife or a midwife,” but can’t she be both?
He called her out of a labour because he had a headache and his son was crying. Trixie was in the middle of delivering a baby when she got an ’emergency’ phone call from her husband, but there was nothing wrong with him.
The pair had a fallout, but Trixie still rushed home to Matthew, despite how he spoke to her.
Towards the end of the episode, the nurse told him she would be spending three nights a week at Nonnatus House because it would make her job easier.
She would then spend the rest of the week at their marital home, making it easier for her to focus on their relationship and family.
Fans were shocked by how Matthew was acting and the expectations he placed on Trixie.

Matthew even suggested she give up her job as a midwife and start working for charities like his mother.
Trixie stressed that being a midwife is her vocation and something she’s not willing to give up.
Fans were quite surprised by the twist in the couple’s storyline.
One tweeted, “After years of Trixie not being happy, you marry her off and after 3 or so episodes, you start an uncharacteristic drama between them.”
Another added, “Something is going on with Matthew he’s so out of character, he’s cold and giving no support to Trixie.”
“I’m sad about the Trixie and Matthew storyline. Why can’t they just be happy?” another asked.
