Some listeners were less than impressed with the comedian.
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star Seann Walsh has clapped back at trolls after a parenting joke he made was met with ridicule.
While on the Parenting Hell podcast, hosted by Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe, the comedian, 37, laughed that he hadn’t been woken up during the night with his seven-month-old baby daughter, Wylda Primrose Adderley-Walsh.
The Strictly Come Dancing star welcomed his daughter in February with girlfriend Grace Adderley.
Speaking on the sleeping dynamic in their house, Walsh remarked: “I said ‘she does sleep through the night, we’re really lucky’, but then Grace overheard me and said ‘she’s up five times a night’.”
“He seemed almost proud of how little he participates in his family life,” one wrote.
Another penned their disappointment, saying: “Sure it’s a comedy podcast, but nothing is funny about men who take no responsibility for parenting.”
While one fan of the podcast labelled it as a “misogynistic clap trap wrapped up as comedy.”
Walsh has since responded to the dad-shaming, as he told listeners he was ‘just having a laugh.’
Responding under the post, the comedian wrote: “Well looking at this was a big mistake. Yikes, was just having a laugh guys. No need to be so personal. Sorry you didn’t enjoy it. It was fun to do. Blimey.”
Both Hackett and Widdicombe also came to Walsh’s defence in the comments section.
Beckett took the opportunity to remind users that it was a comedy podcast, while Widdicombe wrote: “I would like to remind everyone that this isn’t Twitter, it’s usually very nice on here.”
