“Think how many mums out there are struggling with that work-life balance, it’s not just me”
Laura Anderson has opened up about the realities of being a single parent.
The Love Island star welcomed her first child, a daughter named Bonnie, in September with her ex-partner, Gary Lucy.
Despite speculation around the former couple’s relationship status since their daughter’s birth, Laura has confirmed she is single.
The mum-of-one confessed to The Mirror that she has found being a single parent difficult to navigate, particularly at the beginning.
“I think it was hard to get my head around initially, it wasn’t what I expected. But that’s the cards I was dealt in the end.
“Of course, I’m going to make it work for my child, even more so. I feel like I’m a really good mum, to be honest.”
The reality TV star admitted that while her baby girl has given her social life a ‘little bit of a backseat’, her good friends understand.
She delved into raising her daughter as a single parent, saying she knows that she’s not alone.
“Prioritise what you need to do, it’s just me. I have to make it work. I am tired but of course, I’m going to be tired. I’m bringing up a human soul, that’s what I signed up for.
“Think how many mums out there are struggling with that work-life balance, it’s not just me.
“It’s so relatable and that’s the best thing about Love Island, having a social media following, I’ve really understood it more since having a baby.
“It’s so nice to resonate and it really is a positive place.”
Laura and Gary began dating while filming E4 reality show Celebs Go Dating in 2022.
They announced they were expecting their first child together in February, 2023, but split during Laura’s pregnancy.
