One mum has been left outraged after she discovered her daughter (6) was forced to eat her lunch alone.
This mum was heartbroken when her daughter revealed she was told to eat her lunch alone because of ‘the smell’.
Her daughter came home from school one day and told her mum she didn’t want her favourite foods for lunch anymore.
She asked her if she could have the same food as the other students. Her mum was surprised but her daughter then told her that the teacher made her eat her lunch alone.
The mum was understandably furious and expressed her outrage on Reddit.
“She told me she wanted to be able to sit with the other students. She told me it was because her teacher made her sit in the other room by herself during lunch times because she brought “smelly foods”.”
The mum said something similar happened to her as a child.
“I was really upset because she is half Chinese but she looks Asian and I felt it was my childhood trauma happening to her.”
“This is extremely inappropriate of the teacher and in my opinion racist”
The teachers claimed the young girl was lying, but another student confirmed that she was made to eat alone.
“Another teacher confirmed she had seen her eating alone.”
The headteacher then claimed that “she didn’t want her distracting the other students by having “foreign” food.”
The mum was stunned by her remarks, but the teacher failed to see how wrong she was.
“She refused to believe it was inappropriate and said she didn’t see anything wrong with sending her to eat by herself.”
The mum had no choice but to move her daughter to another classroom because of the way she was treated.
Fellow mums slated the teacher for isolating and humiliating the child.
Another pointed out that her actions will impact the young girl in the future.
One said: This is extremely inappropriate of the teacher and in my opinion racist.”
Another mum also said the teacher’s actions will traumatise the girl.
“This will traumatise the kid and make her feel embarrassed of her own ethnicity.”
