He worked at the Mater Hospital as a cleaner.
A child abductor worked at the Mater Hospital as a cleaner, reports have revealed.
The hospital reportedly hired a convicted criminal as a cleaner, The Independent has reported.
The man in question reportedly passed his Garda vetting, but has a criminal history.
The Independent revealed that he was convicted of multiple crimes and had been sentenced to five years in prison.
The crimes include child abduction, as well as possessing child abuse imagery.
An external company hired the man as a cleaner, the Mater Hospital shared.
The hospital was not aware of his past.
An outside company was responsible for hiring the criminal.
The company did carry out Garda vetting, which the man passed despite his criminal history.
A spokesperson for the Mater Hospital told DublinLive:
"We were not aware of the details of this case"
The company "followed all processes required for any individual to work onsite at the Mater, including Garda vetting".
The man no longer works at the Mater Hospital.
The Mater Hospital has launched an investigation following the allegations.
"Given the seriousness of the crimes involved, the Mater Hospital is examining the issue further," the spokesperson shared.
