Absolutely heartbreaking.

In 2018, America and the world would be rocked by a news story that to this day still horrifies and shocks.

A young family, that seemed to have it all destroyed when husband and father Chris Watts murdered his two daughters and pregnant wife and then dumped their bodies on his work site.

Chris would end up pleading guilty to murder and is currently serving life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The family of Shanann have opened up over the years about the toll the shocking murders has had on their lives and that they will never fully recover from the tragedies.

Shanann’s mother Sandy has said that she can still hear her granddaughters voices in her head sometimes and that it all becomes overwhelming;

“Those were my grandchildren. I loved them. They were mine. There’s many times that I just feel like giving up. If it wasn’t for God, I wouldn’t be here.”

She has also said that the night of the murders she woke up suddenly and knew something was wrong;

“Something woke me up, and I sat up, and a spear went through my forehead. I heard the Holy Spirit say, ‘Shan’ann.’ And I said, ‘Holy s**t, something happened to my daughter.’ I knew. I swear to God, I knew.

I woke up Frankie. I woke up the whole house. I said, ‘Something’s wrong with Shan’ann. I’m telling you something’s wrong.”

In a heartbreaking interview with Dr.Phil, Sandy said that she contemplated ending her own life so she could be reunited with her daughter;

“The first night, when they found Shan’ann’s body, I’m going to be honest with you, Dr. Phil, I was lying in a bed weeping so hard talking to God. I said, ‘You know, I could just end my life now and go find my daughter.”

Chris pleaded guilty to the murders on November 6 2018. The death penalty was not put forward by the district attorney on the request of Shanann’s family, who did not wish for any further deaths.

He is currently serving his life sentence at a maximum security prison.
