Ronan Keating opens up on becoming a grandad at 46
"Pops" has a nice ring to it.
Ronan Keating has opened up about becoming a grandad for the first time at the age of 46.
The singer's son Jack announced he had welcomed his first child last month on Instagram and at the time, all Ronan had said was "Little Cutie."
Now speaking about the new addition to the Keating clan, the Boyzone star has broken his silence.
Speaking on his show The One Show, Ronan's co-host Jermaine Jenas said: "Well said grandad.”
Ronan then replied: "Yes I am. My son had a gorgeous baby.”
Jermaine continued: “You prefer to be called something else don’t you?” before Ronan admitted: “Pops”.
Ronan's son Jack, who appeared on the 2022 series of Love Island, welcomed a baby girl earlier this month but has said that he and the baby's mum are no longer together.

Planning to co-parent and looking forward to it, Jack told The Sun: "My daughter’s mother and I are not together however, we look forward to co-parenting together and giving our little girl the best support system that she needs.
“This is an exciting new chapter for me and my family and I am completely besotted already. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a father and give my daughter the most amazing life.”
Jack mum, model Yvonne Connolly, is also very excited to become a grandma and wasn't shy of saying it on Instagram.
In a birthday post for her son last week, Yvonne wrote: "Happy birthday Jack.
"24 years ago today I held you in my arms like this and you made me the happiest woman in the world. I’ve loved you every minute of every day since.
"I’m so proud of you and ridiculously excited to be a Granny," she added.
