Two Welsh sisters have defied all odds to give birth just three minutes apart in adjacent hospital rooms.
Dwynwen Williams (38) and Iola Roberts (39) were both overdue and had appointments to be induced. Nature took its course however and both sister found themselves in labour and en route to the hospital at the same time.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Dwynwen joked: “When I arrived at the hospital, I was told I’d have to wait because there was someone in the treatment room being examined, and I replied: “Tell her to get a move on!”
The midwife was shocked until she realised it was my sister.”
Iola gave birth to 7lb 13oz daughter Mirain at 1.11am, swiftly followed by Dwynwen, whose 7lb 14oz son Celt arrived at 1.14am.
The sisters, who both have two older children each, were given beds next to each other in the maternity ward.
