On Wednesday night, a man in his 30s was arrested and questioned in connection with the assault by gardaí at Pearse Street Garda Station.

He has since been charged and will appear before a judge at the Criminal Courts of Justice at 10.30am today.

Tuesday’s shocking attack came just after two women in Kilkenny and Cork were assaulted within the same 48 hours.

Gardai investigations into all three attacks are ongoing.

A male youth has also been arrested in relation to the brutal assault of 17-year-old Alanna Quinn Idris, who was attacked while walking home with a friend in Ballyfermot in December.
