THIS Seemingly Innocent Sibling Photo Is Getting All Sorts Of Crazy Reactions

Trine Jensen-Burke

Disclaimer: Nothing – nothing – makes me as warm and fuzzy inside as seeing my six-year-old and my two-year-old show each other affection.

Ever since we first brought N into the hospital to introduce her to her baby brother, seeing her hold him and hug him literally has the power to make my ovaries sing with the desire to add more siblings to our brood.

These days, two and a half years in, there are a lot of “he PUSHED me” and “LaLa no play Luca” and tears and broken Barbie camper vans, so when they do share moments of pure and gorgeous sibling love, I drink it in, and take every opportunity to have them hug it out and kiss each other sorry or good bye or whatever. (Note: These days little bro has developed a habit of sneaking into his big sister for some mid-night cuddles, and so I find them there in the morning in her big bed, all tangled up, asleep, and again, I literally have to talk my ovaries down like we are in a hostage situation!)

Anyway, I don’t think I’m alone in this, as I am pretty sure all parents of more than one child love to witness how much their little ones love and care about each other. In fact; it is why we give our baby #1 a sibling in the first place, no? To hand them a ready-made forever best friend?

Which is why I find it so shocking that this lovely picture that super model mum Alessandra Ambrosio posted to her Instagram account a couple of days ago has managed to generate the opinions and comments that is has.

The model mama captioned the sweet holiday snap of Anja, 7, and Noah, 3, “The best kind of love”. But while the majority of her followers were quick to express how lovely they thought her picture was, and how all they could see were two gorgeous children displaying affection for their sibling, some suggested there is something very wrong with two children kissing on the lips.

“This is disgusting,” wrote one. “This doesn’t look good…” thought another.  Some even when as far as to cry ‘incest’.

Ahem; since when did a toddler giving his sister a kiss, which quite obviously had no sexual intention behind it, equal incest?! I mean; is there anything as gorgeous and pure as the love between children?!

Thankfully, many followers came to Ambrosio’s defense of the image.

“People talking about incest, if you see something wrong in this picture, there is something wrong with you! Love is pure,” a commenter wrote.

“Sibling love is the best kind,” added another.

Amen to that.
