School trip

This is a perfect example of parenting in the technology era

It’s completely normal if you’re a parent who paces back and forth for the day while your child is on a school trip.

Dropping them off at school on their first day was hard enough and now they’re leaving the area?

If you find yourself more worrisome when your child’s class has left town for the day on an educational trip, one mum has shared an extremely clever hack that will give you peace of mind.

When her kid is out in public without her, Shaylin Martin from Florida uses an Apple AirTag to calm her nerves and keep tabs on her daughter while she was on her first school trip.

In a TikTok clip, the mum hides the device in her child’s ponytail.

First, she takes the Apple device, which is strapped into a band, and ties it around her daughter’s ponytail, the same way you would with a hair tie.

Next, she wraps her daughter’s hair around the ponytail to form a bun, which conceals the device.

Once she knows it’s secured, it means she can be rest assured that her daughter is unlikely to lose the device and it will always give her exact location.

She wrote in the caption of the now-viral video: “Parent Hack! I was able to track my baby to and from her field trip today and it gave me so much peace of mind!”

Many parents, teachers, and users took to the comments to applaud the idea.

“My anxiety made me attend every field trip as a parent chaperone I don’t trust NO ONE with my kids!” one admitted.

“As a teacher I see AirTags on shoe tongues, belt loops, pocket or backpack sewn inserts… I welcome the accountability I adore AirTags,” a teacher added.

“It’s so sad that this is actually necessary these days! Great job Momma!!” a third wrote.

“Teacher here, I’m totally OK with this! I had a parent once that begged me to hold their child’s hand the entire time. I did,” another teacher commented.

“This is actually a good idea for dates too! It’s brutal out here!” one user added.

Many users also highlighted that alternatives to Apple can also be purchased for a lower price, but also to avoid notifications.
