Along with all the other side effects, pregnancy can come with breast pain

Yes, before your baby is even born or you start breastfeeding (if that’s something you want to do) you can already have pain.

Breast tenderness is one of the first (and most common) symptoms of pregnancy, starting as early as weeks 4 to 7 and lasting through the first trimester or something longer.

Though thankfully there are a few things that you can try out to alleviate this symptom.

Though there’s not a specific medication for the pain, there are some home remedies to try but of course if the ache continues or worsens, make sure to contact your doctor.

Invest in a good bra

Start from the start! Treat yourself to a decent bra, even consider getting it properly fitted.

Many folks don’t know this but a lot of your local clothes shops will have someone on hand to help you find that perfect supportive fit.

Wear a nursing bra

You don’t have to wait for your little one to arrive to switch to a nursing bra.

Look for wire-free, unpadded options that don’t have hooks or snaps and then wear it at night.

Position changes during sleep can irritate sore nipples or make tender breasts even more painful.

Apply cold compresses

Cold packs on your breasts can relieve discomfort. Protect your skin by wrapping an ice pack or a bag of frozen peas in a dish towel.

Have a shower

Cold isn’t the only way to help ease the ache, a hot shower could be just as effective.

Wear loose clothing

Just like an ill-fitting bra, tops that are too snug may pinch your breasts and cause more pain. Instead, opt for flowy or oversized t-shirts.

Ask about over-the-counter painkillers

Check-in with your doctor about taking an over-the-counter pain reliever if the other home remedies aren’t helping.
