A recent study has found that eating chocolate in the mornings is actually good for you. Yes, you read that right.
According to researchers, eating a little bit of chocolate in the morning can help lower blood glucose levels, improves your quality of sleep and even improves your exercise metabolism.
The study, which was conducted by researchers in both Boston and Spain, explained that eating chocolate at certain points of the day can actually improve your health.
The study states: "Eating a concentrated amount of chocolate during a narrow window of time in the morning may help the body burn fat and decrease blood sugar levels."
The team of researchers analysed the health of 19 postmenopausal women who consumed either 100g of chocolate in the morning (within one hour after waking time) or within one hour before bedtime.
Not only can a couple squares of chocolate improve your sleep and blood glucose levels, but it also makes us happier.
A previous study discovered the link between our mood and dark chocolate consumption. Researchers at University College London revealed that people who ate dark chocolate were 70% less likely to display signs of depressive moods than people who consumed no chocolate whatsoever.
Dark chocolate contains an ingredient called phenylethylamine, which helps regulate one's mood.
Even if there were no health benefits, we'd happily tuck into our chocolate stash if it was going to make our morning a little easier. You've got to do what makes you happy after all, right?Explore more on these topics:
