Parents who purchased the Play-Doh Sweet Shoppe Mountain play set for their kids this Christmas were treated to a very grown-up surprise when they opened the box. Mortified mums and dads have been inundating Play-Doh Facebook page with complaints over the… er… phallic shape of the applicator tool sold with the set, which retails for €17.49 in Irish toyshops.

Angry parents took to Twitter to voice their opinions on the shape of the toy after comments were removed from Hasbro’s Facebook page. One outraged mum posted: “This is NOT okay. This completely ruined our Christmas.” Another mum asked: “What is the concept of this? Why couldn’t it be in another form or shape?”

“We have heard some consumer feedback about the extruder tool in the Play-Doh Cake Mountain playset and are in the process of updating all future Play-Doh products with a different tool,” a statement from Hasbro, the company behind Play Doh, read. “Should any consumer want a replacement extruder for this item, they can contact Hasbro’s Customer Service Department.”
