Emily Blunt’s daughters are REALLY not happy that she is playing Mary Poppins

They “loathe” seeing her on screen.

Emily Blunt will be taking on the iconic role of Mary Poppins this year, with the Disney movie Mary Poppins Returns.

And while plenty of people are excited to see the sequel to the cinematic classic (as well as what she does with the role), there are two who aren’t impressed one bit with the whole situation: her daughters.

The Devil Wears Prada actress explained during an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers that her two little girls – Hazel, 4, and 18-month-old Violet – already aren’t fans of watching her on screen.

They’ve even less happy about the idea of watching her in this movie, as they’re already obsessed with the original film.

She explained:

“My daughters, in general, loathe to see me on screen.

“I know when I was doing Mary Poppins, I would Face Time my daughter and she would be like ‘Take that silly old Mary Poppins wig off’.”

“They are in love with Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins.

“I never showed it to them during my shooting of the film, partially because I selfishly didn’t want to be distracted by how brilliant she was in the role.

“I’m not even on the list [of their favourite Mary Poppins] – they’re creepily obsessed with Julie Andrews.”

But it turns out that there’s one project of her mum’s that Hazel is more enthusiastic about: the horror movie, A Quiet Place.

Emily recalled:

“We were having a Super Bowl party and the trailer for A Quiet Place came on, which is terrifying.

“And Hazel wanders in with a hot dog in hand and she just goes, ‘Woah. That’s you, mummy.’

“It was the bit where I scream, and you could see her brain exploding.

“But instead she went, ‘haha, cool’ and walked away – we haven’t spoken about it since.”
