Marty Whelan confirmed his daughter has welcomed a baby girl
Beloved Irish TV presenter Marty Whelan has confirmed he is officially a grandfather.
The broadcaster announced the special news this week and we couldn’t be happier for them.
The former Winning Streak host said he was speechless following the birth of his granddaughter.
He revealed that his granddaughter is called Lily Nora.
He said becoming a grandfather has been the most incredible experience for him and it has rendered him speechless.
Marty told RSVP: “She’s six weeks old now. She came a week early and is phenomenal, I know everyone says their grandchild is phenomenal, but I’ve never had one before.
Marty added: “I was rendered speechless when I met her. I just want to hold her and mind her. I’m watching Jessica and Conor and they’re natural parents.”
The new grandfather said he is looking forward to watching baby Nora grow up.
“Isn’t it astonishing what we become and what’s in us automatically,” he said.
Marty admitted that they’re “beside ourselves with joy”.
“It’s an amazing feeling. It’s a very special time and we’re looking forward to watching her growing up,” he added.
