Ashley Cain has announced the birth of his son.
This joyous news comes almost two years after the tragic passing of his late daughter, Azaylia Diamond Cain, after battling leukaemia.
The former professional footballer and his ex-partner Safiyya Vorajee lost their daughter when she was just eight months old.
Soon after Azaylia’s death in April 2021, the couple split up.
Ashley shared the news online that he had become a father for the second time earlier this week and called Azaylia his ‘beautiful guardian angel’.
“Aliyas Diamond Cain – 16.01.24, 4:32am, 9lbs 3oz,” the proud dad wrote on Instagram, sharing that his daughter and son have the same middle name.
“I will love you, appreciate you, guide you and protect you with all of my heart, for the rest of my life.
“& you will have the most beautiful guardian angel heaven holds watching over you and protecting you too.
“Welcome to the world my son.
“May your body be strong, your mind be wise, your heart be loving and your spirit be pure and truly powerful.”
When Ashley announced he was expecting another child in December 2023, he reflected on the range of emotions he felt following Azaylia’s passing.
“In the back of my head I didn’t really know how to deal or cope with it if it was a little girl. It could have been fine but it could have been heartbreaking all over again and I wasn’t sure,” he told The UK Sun.
The TV personality also opened up about how he shared the news with his late daughter.
“After going to her resting place and speaking to her about it, I just had a feeling in my heart and in my soul that she was happy for me.
“She was happy that she had a little brother and it is now just someone else for her to watch over and protect in this world.”
The identity of the mother of his son has not been revealed, though he admitted that they are not romantically together.
