"We have to talk daily for the kids."
Co-parenting can be challenging in the best of circumstances, but Khloe and Kim Kardashian have to navigate it publicly.
In an interview special for ABC News, the sisters each spoke about trying to maintain an amicable relationship with their former partners for the benefit of their children.
Khloe has seemingly seen the light when it comes to on-and-off boyfriend Tristan Thompson, the father of her soon-to-be four-year-old daughter True.
The Good American founder admitted that after multiple cheating scandals, she now realises she and the NBA player aren't meant to be.
"With Tristan I did feel incredibly safe in the beginning, and I felt really good for a time," she said.
Tristan's first
cheating scandal publicly broke right before Khloe gave birth to their daughter in April 2018. The following year, it was reported that he had kissed Kardashian-Jenner family friend,
Jordyn Woods, at a house party.
His most recent affair became public after the pair had already split, as paternity tests confirmed he conceived a child with
personal trainer Maralee Nichols back when he and Khloe were still together.
Speaking on public perception of her allowing Tristan to be with her during labour in face of the first betrayal, Khloe explained that she pushed her own feelings to the side for the sake of her daughter.

"I remember when he cheated on me right before I gave birth and I was able to still have him in the delivery room. It might have looked strange to the outside world, but when my daughter watches my home videos, those videos are going to be as pure and perfect as I was able to make them," she said.
The reality star added that while she still believes Tristan to be a "great guy" and father, she now knows he's "just not the guy for me".
During the special, Kim also opened up about trying to co-parent through divorce amid
Kanye West's public attacks on her and her boyfriend, Pete Davidson.

"Was it difficult because of how Kanye became so public? How have you been able to navigate that?" ABC's Robin Roberts asked.
"You want to
take the high road, and sometimes it’s hard. But I think that, at the end of the day, everyone has their own way of communicating, and I’ve always been, like, a champion of him speaking his truth and I would always want that," Kim answered.
When asked how she addresses the situation with her kids, Kim said: "I’m really open and honest with them, y'know? The younger ones don’t understand as much, but as far as with my two older ones, they know what’s going on."

The mum-of-four added that she tries to "be there for them no matter what, even in this crazy life that we live" and have "a really open dialogue" with her children.
"Kanye and I have had conversations, we have to talk daily for the kids. So, you know, I hate that it had to play out like that," she went on. "But when it comes to family, I mean, Kanye and I will always be family.
"At the end of the day, I just want my kids to be happy and healthy and think the world of their dad. And they do."
