Get involved… charity toy appeals happening right now

HerFamily

For many people the Christmas toy appeals are as much a part of Christmas as the turkey dinner or the ritual of opening presents.

Or perhaps this is the first year you’ve thought about getting involved and donating a gift to one of the many organisations working to bring a little bit of joy to many children across the world.

Either way, here are some of the charity toy appeals happening right now…

World Vision

World Vision works with children who are suffering from the traumas of emergency situations, focusing on the basics like clean water, food, shelter and security. They also provide toys so refugee children can break from reality during times of severe stress. For so many children in the world, getting a new toy at Christmas is something that comes hand in hand with childhood. However much we may take it for granted, children need it in their lives to help them learn, grow, explore their creativity and build their confidence – for refugee children, this is even more so. To donate, visit the website here.

Barnardos

Every year Barnardos asks members of the public to donate gifts for children of all ages, from babies to teenagers. You can get involved by dropping gifts off at any of their GLS ParcelShops nationwide (you’ll have to be quick though as the deadline is December 16th) or you can give an online gift through their website. The only thing you need is a toy that is new, unwrapped and worth €10 – not a big price for something that will have a huge impact. Check out the website here.

Temple Street

Temple Street does incredible work all year around but at this time of year, they always go that one step further and ensure that the kids don’t miss out on Santa. You can make a real difference this year by donating a gift to one of the many sick children at Temple Street. Some will be spending their first Christmas in ICU while others use the toys in their physical therapy sessions. If you want to get involved and make this Christmas one to remember, you can visit the Temple Street website here.
