Having this in your home can apparently make it look ‘unsophisticated’

Well.

Needless to say, a number of the things on this list feature in our homes and probably many others so we’re not about to take it too seriously.

Still, we can’t help but show interest when interiors experts weigh in on what makes a home look its best and maybe that’s something to do with our recent Room to Improve obsession.

So, without further ado, according to the interiors team at My Domaine, having these nine items in your house makes it ‘unsophisticated’.

We won’t go into detail about all of them but maybe choose the ones that are commonly found in homes across Ireland, particularly if you’re renting.

So first up we have vertical blinds.

The interior professional suggest drapery panels for over the blinds if they can’t be removed and although this might look prettier or ‘more attractive’ as they put it, we wouldn’t consider this one a necessity.

Next, fluorescent lights and again if you’re renting, these might already be in place so you won’t have control over the lighting. According to those in the know when it comes to stunning homes, softer light instantly flatters but hey that’s why we love candles, right mamas?!

Then there are unmade beds, one thing we can all fix, apart from the days when we’re flying out the door with minutes to spare and last but not least, clutter is a big no-no.

That’s easy to say but as mums know, finding a place for all the paraphernalia children require on a daily basis is a difficult task.

Although we do our best to keep on top of the mess that accumulates in the background, it’s not always easy which is why we’re about to go on the hunt for some handy storage hacks.
