Parents are pretty bothered by this mum’s Santa remarks
Telling your child about Santa and the magic of Christmas is one of the best parts of the holidays.
Seeing their little faces light up when they see presents under the tree is the best feeling.
However, some parents think it’s selfish to lie to their children about Santa.
Telling them Santa exists isn’t exactly lying in our eyes, especially if it makes Christmas more magical.
However, one mum claimed that lying to your kids about Santa ‘creates brats’.
The shocking post has gained a lot of attention online, but not because people are agreeing with this mum.
She wrote, “I had a conversation with friends and they were talking about Santa Claus and if my kid knows it yet. I told them that I would not lie to them about [an] imaginary person that would randomly give presents in exchange for good behavior.”
“I do not understand why kids shouldn’t know that the presents are from your family and that you actually spent money for them rather than a stranger,” the mum said.
She then claimed lying to them about Santa can cause poor behaviour, but we’re not inclined to agree.
“Also, you are basically lying to them for some consumerism and you basically create brats that are only motivated to do good for a present.”
Many parents shut down her views and said telling children about Santa is a sweet tradition.
Others said she is looking at the festive tradition in such a negative way.
One mum pointed out that lying to your kids about Santa isn’t a bad thing if it makes them happy.
