Mum outraged after daughter is invited to birthday on Christmas Eve

This isn’t how we’d like to spend Christmas Eve

A mum has sparked a debate online after revealing her child was invited to a birthday party on Christmas Eve.

So many families have different traditions for December 24th, but attending a child’s birthday party wouldn’t be at the top of our list.

The mum explained to Mumsnet that she finds it odd that the parents are having the party so close to Christmas.

She wrote, “One of my daughter’s school friends has a birthday party on Xmas Eve.

“I think the idea of inviting school kids to a birthday party on Xmas Eve is pretty odd because Xmas Eve should be spent with family.”

Fellow Mumsnet users were quick to agree with her.

Christmas Eve is one of the busiest days in our festive calendar so we’d struggle to find time for this party.

However, others said it was incredibly unfair to expect the parents to change the day of their party.

“What if their daughter’s birthday is Christmas Eve?” one asked.

Another pointed out, “They can have the party whenever they want and it’s up to you whether you go or not. Lots of people are still working on Christmas Eve. It can also be a long day with young children so something to break it up sounds like a great idea.”

Another added. “If the child’s birthday is on Christmas Eve then of course she should have her party then. If it was your child you would do the same.”

One parent said it must be incredibly tough having a birthday so close to Christmas.

“It must be pretty crap for the kid to have a Christmas birthday. I’d make the effort so that my child could go.”
