The father of Ashling Murphy has bravely opened up about his late daughter as we approach her second anniversary.

Beloved teacher Ashling Murphy was tragically killed by Jozef Puška on January 12th, 2022.

The teacher and musician was out jogging when Jozef Puška attacked her in Tullamore.

News of Ashling Murphy’s death broke the hearts of the nation, but the heartache and pain her family continue to live with is unimaginable.

Speaking ahead of his daughter’s anniversary, Ashling’s father Raymond said he visits her grave every day.

He explained to The Sunday Times that going to Ashling’s grave helps him feel connected to his late daughter.

He told the publication that visiting her grave makes him feel close to “our little angel”.

“It’s still painful, very painful for me and [her mother] Kathleen, [siblings] Cathal, Amy and [boyfriend] Ryan. What she did in her short 23 years – had she lived, what would she have done in another 23 years?”

Her father confirmed they will visit the canal this week, but said the pain they’re experiencing is “very difficult”.

Raymond said losing Ashling will always be “very painful”.

“Everyone loved her. No matter where she went,” her grief-stricken dad added.

We’re keeping Ashling’s family and loved ones in our thoughts during this harrowing week.
