The infant passed away and was found in a car outside a hospital in Washington.
A one-year-old has tragically died after they were left in a car in Washington, police have confirmed.
The tragic accident happened after the infant's mum forgot they were in the car and then went into work. The heartbroken foster mum worked at Multicare Good Samaritan Hospital.
She found the unresponsive infant after returning to her car following a nine-hour shift.
It was reportedly 37C° inside the car at 6.15 pm. The infant was rushed into the hospital, but sadly doctors couldn't revive them.
A spokesperson for the Good Samaritan Hospital told
The Washington Examiner that they're keeping the foster mum in their thoughts following the tragedy.
"A tragic incident took place at the Good Samaritan campus Wednesday involving an employee and their child.
"This incident also impacted a number of our other team members. MultiCare has offered a number of paths for support for our employees. We extend our condolences to everyone involved."
A police investigation is ongoing, but no charges have been filed.
They stated, "We all have a lot going on. And this unfortunate situation is that, hopefully it reminds us to take a step back and slow down and just make sure that we are taking care of our families and taking care of each other."
A spokesperson for Puyallup Police Department extended their sympathies to the foster mother during this tragic time.
