The good people of Ireland (and the world at large) watch A LOT of porn online. 4,392,486,580 hours a year of it, in fact, to be precise.
These mind-boggling numbers were revealed by Pornhub, who recently released their annual Insights report for 2015, detailing how and when the world consumes online porn.
The illuminating results revealed not only how many hours people actually devote to watching other people have sex, but also track when viewers’ interest peaks or deflates in each country.
And you’ll be happy to hear that it was an event right here in Ireland that made the absolute biggest drop in online porn-watching. A night where porn had to take a back-seat to more, let’s say wholesome, viewing.
Because, believe it or not, the media event that most affected Pornhub traffic in the whole of 2015 was… The Late Late Toy Show.
That’s right. Across our sentimental nation, so many people logged off Pornhub and tuned into Tubridy that the world’s largest porn website saw it’s absolute biggest drop in numbers of the whole year during those couple of hours.
On the night of November 27th, Pornhub saw a 16% drop-off in traffic from Ireland. By numbers, this means that The Late Late Toy Show beat the US Republican Debates in the States which caused traffic to dip by about 4.5 percent there.
And it doesn’t end there. Barack Obama’s Democrat party debates only caused a two percent dip and the birth of Princess Charlotte brought traffic down by a scrawny three percent in the UK. In fact, not even the Golden Globes, the Oscars or the Walking Dead Season Six premiere could compete with Tubridy when it came to luring people away from porn watching.
