At a handful of New World supermarkets in NZ, you can now buy peppers, mushrooms, courgettes, broccoli and tons of other vegetables which are washed, pre-cut and displayed in clear, plastic containers. They've basically taken the traditional Pick 'n' Mix format we all know and love and made it a gazillion times healthier. Not only would this be SO handy for those of us who HATE spending ages chopping and dicing veggies after a long day at work. Also, how much less food waste would you have if this was available in your local Tesco or SuperValue?! I mean; to make one stir-fry dinner, you have to buy one whole packet of baby corn (even if you only need roughly half that amount), the same goes for sugar snap peas, runner beans and pretty much every other ingredient you use. Chris Grace, one of the owners of a New World store, told a local news channel that the pre-cut veg is perfect for young professionals who are in a hurry or for the elderly who might struggle to chop things at home. "It eliminates waste for them," he explains. "They can pick out exactly how much they want of the different types, mushrooms, or courgettes or cucumbers or whatever, and the other factor is they don't have to go through the physical exercise of cutting up pumpkins or cauliflowers." Tesco, M&S and SueprValue; please take note!NEW WORLD you awsome supermarket this is so cool ? I'd defs go for this even thought it's probably 10x expensive pic.twitter.com/NF5eobr1fF
