Mum’s controversial Christmas morning tradition sparks debate

This is the last thing I’d want to do on Christmas morning

There are many Christmas traditions we never tire of; Shopping for your Christmas tree, hanging up fairy lights in every single corner of the house, eating as many Roses as physically possible.

It’s a joyous time of year, but there are some traditions that leave us scratching our heads. They may be called ‘traditions’ but they almost take the joy out of Christmas by making it a little too serious.

One mum has sparked a debate online after her family tradition was revealed.

We’re not sure about you, but Christmas morning in our house is pure chaos – but we love it.

However, some people aren’t so crazy about the festive madness.

One dad revealed his wife’s Christmas ritual is taking away from the magic on Christmas morning.

He explained to Reddit that she limits how many presents their children can open on the day.

“Opening presents is always annoying here. My wife likes to ration presents for the kids and have them open one every hour or two, whereas I prefer to just sit down and take turns opening all of them. What’s your process for gifts?” he asked.

Fellow parents agreed that this would ruin the Christmas joy.

“Rationing presents would ruin the momentum of the day,” one said.

“This is the most bizarre thing I’ve ever heard. Everyone I’ve ever known just sits down and opens everything at once,” another wrote.

What do you think of this tradition?
