You have to love that youngest sibling’s confidence!

We’ve all likely met a person who is the oldest sibling in their family who exhibits traits of responsibility and sensibility.

Alternatively, we also likely know a person who is the youngest sibling who is more laid back.

However, one study has shown that your birth order can determine what traits you think you have, with youngest siblings more likely to declare themselves as the ‘funniest’ in their family.

A study conducted by YouGov found that 46 per cent of the UK population’s youngest family members would say they are the funniest family member, compared to 36 per cent of eldest siblings.

Additionally, 17 per cent of youngest siblings also are more likely to believe that they are the more favoured child of their parents, in comparison to 10 per cent of oldest kids.

The study also found that the youngest child has a better chance of thinking they are more laid-back, relaxed, and easy-going than their older brothers or sisters.

In contrast, older siblings are more likely to think they are more organised, sensible, responsible, self-confident, and family-orientated than their youngest siblings.

They also are more likely to think they are better able to prioritise their own life and are more successful than their younger brothers and sisters.

The suspected reason for older sibling’s feeling as though they have these trait advantages is down to being alive longer, thus having more life experience.
