They’re a nightmare.
As much as we love our phones and admit that we basically can’t live without them… they do annoy us.
It’s bliss for the first few months, or even a year, and then comes the inevitable.
The apps stop working. Your memory is used up. But worst of all, the battery is sh*te.
Well, turns out that we’ve all been charging our phones wrong, and these few tips from Battery University will help keep your battery top notch.
Charge little and often
We all do it. We plug our phones in overnight so it’s all charged up for the next day.
But, it turns out that’s not so great for your phone, and you might be better off bringing your charger with you during the day.
If you charge your phone in little bursts, it’s best for battery longevity.
Don’t let your phone go dead
While sometimes this can’t be helped, allowing your phone to run out of battery is actually really bad and will wear it out quicker.
Avoid the red warning at all costs, and if you don’t have your charger with you, ask around. Someone is bound to have one.
Keep your battery between 65-75 percent
Turns out, having your phone on 100 percent isn’t the best, and actually there’s an optimum charge of between 65 and 75 percent.
Battery University say that this is the best place for your phone as it will respond much quicker when it’s at its optimum charge.
Never fully charge your phone
If you’re jumping for joy that your phone is on 100 percent, don’t. It means nothing.
According to the website, modern lithium-ion batteries do “not need to be fully charged, nor is it desirable to do so.
“In fact, it is better not to fully charge, because a high voltage stresses the battery”.
So there you have it.
