What this wedding photographer did for a bereaved bride will make you cry

Trine Jensen-Burke

As parents, the thoughts of loosing a child is so horrific we can’t even think about it. And can only imagine that being bereaved of who you love the most will make you want to be reminded of them and keep them near in every important moment forever.

This is what happened to American bride, Amanda Crowe Freebird, who was all set to marry the love of her life, but had the most special person of all missing from the celebrations: Her daughter Azalee, who, aged six, had passed away from cancer two years previously.

But thanks to her incredibly talented wedding photographer – and friend – Ashley Frantz, the new bride now gets to look back at her big day and feel like in some ways, her little girl was also there to share the joy with them.

Franz managed to grant Amanda her wish of “sharing” her wedding day with her daughter by editing a photo of the bride to include the little girl. The emotional picture shows Amanda reaching out for Azalee and cradling her face. Meanwhile Azalee is transparent like a ghost, gazing at her mum.

About the touching image, Frantz shared the following on her own Facebook page:

“Finally get to share one of the most beautiful and difficult pictures I’ve ever been asked to do. This is my wonderful friend Amanda during her bridals. She wanted so badly for her precious Azalee to be there with us. Azalee’s battle with childhood cancer ended 2 years ago…she went to heaven before her mommy met the most wonderful man named Chip. Heartbroken that her girl wouldn’t be here to experience this new journey with her,Amanda asked me to please incorporate Azalee into the pics somehow. This is what I came up with and I couldn’t be more pleased. It was such an honor to be able to do this for her and I’m so thankful God has given me a talent that I can use to make broken hearts just a tad less broken.”

The photograph has since been shared close to 10,000 times and has garnered more than 80,000 likes.

To add to the already emotional day, the photographer could reveal what happened when the couple after the ceremony released butterflies into the sky in memory of little Azalee.

“As the butterflies flew up and away, one little beauty decided she wanted to stay a while,” Frantz explais. “She landed right on Amanda (closest to her heart) and stayed while a heart-wrenching cry was shared between the bride and groom (and the entire congregation).”

Frantz continued:

“We all know it was Azalee, just a little whisper from her and God saying ‘congratulations’ and letting everyone know she was nearby to help her mommy cross over into her new path of life… where there is nothing but sunshine ahead!!”

Now we’re all crying right?

What a beautiful way for this mama to always feel like she shared her big day with her precious little girl.
