Wife’s instruction note to husband goes viral

Trine Jensen-Burke

The first time I left our relatively new baby (well, she was coming up to her first birthday) in my husband to be’s care and flew off for a work conference, I left him a Baby Instruction Manual so detailed and extensive he still mocks me about it five years later.

But to my worried mama mind, it was always better to be safe than sorry when it came to making sure our baby girl was fed, washed and kept out of harms way. Now, I am sure the majority of these things he could have totally figured out on his own (the guy holds a master, after all, surely getting Cheerios into a one-year-old couldn’t be too overwhelming.) But, you know, us girls like to micromanage, right?

At least, my other half didn’t take a picture of my note (and by note I mean three paged letter…) and mock me publicly on social media for being such a mother hen. Unlike this American husband and dad, who made his own little hilarious scribbles on the note his wife left him when she had to leave town, and shared it for the whole world to see on Reddit.

The new dad explains that he and his wife and both first time parents of a three-month-old. In other words a pretty young baby. We can only imagine this mama was feeling a little nervous when it came down to leaving her bundle overnight. Hence the instruction manual.

The funny snap, where the father-of-one has added his own scribbles, have so far been shared close to 700,000 times. Let’s hope the new mama has a sense of humor!

The image gathered some great comments on Reddit.

“Single page? Ha I wish,” comments one Reddit user. ” My wife left me a 5 page Itinerary complete with POAs and Emergency information. I put the baby on the floor.” The gentleman did not explain further as to why he opted to put the baby on the floor.

But after other commenters begin to pick on his wife for being too controlling, Mr Home Alone Dad stands up for her and admits he actually asked for the list.

He also adds a message for his wife, who’s probably not thrilled with the laughs her husband is getting at her expense: “Hi wife! Don’t listen to the mean people on the Internet. They lurk and you know what they say, “opinions are like buttholes, everybody has one”. Enjoy your trip and see you Thursday.”

Now, who’s willing to bet he won’t be getting anymore notes for a while!
